Hello and welcome One-Eyed Tiger fans! Welcome to another edition of my post!
Before I get to this weekend's Murph Workout results, I just wanted to mention my performance in the ATA fit test exercise this week leading up to my first TaeKwanDo belt test!
If you're not familiar with it, you get one minute each to do as many: push-ups, v-ups, alternating front kick/round kick, double-punch/round kick and finally straight punches as possible. To qualify to even take belt test, you must get a combined 300+ on all these.
When we did this during Wednesday night's class, I set a personal best of 297! V-ups are definitely my weak point, as I imagine they are for lots of people.
Anyway, on to this week's Murph Workout results. I wanted to up my total number of pull-ups, but I still started with 4 sets of 10 pull-ups, 20 push-ups and 30 squats. On the last set though, I did 12 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, 4 pull-ups, 30 squats and 4 pull-ups for a total of 50 pull-ups completed!
1-mile run: 12:32
Pull-ups, etc: 14:13
1-mile run: 12:11
Unlike last week, both runs were done indoors on a treadmill. It was way too hot to run outside at that time!
Later this week, I plan to have an entry where I maintain a running tally of each week's performance.
Oh, and regardless of how you got to this post, please help Team Wales win JFK Covington's #SweatySelfie contest! Please

Thanks again for joining me on this adventure!

Murph Training And A New Fitbit Badge
Hello one and all! Welcome back to my blog.
OK, so I missed doing the Murph workout on Memorial Day. Or should I say, I skipped it. No excuses, I just didn't do it. But I did do it yesterday evening. Here are the results:
1-mile run -> 13:09
4 sets of 10 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, 30 squats -> 15:57
1-mile run -> 10:06
I know, I know. Last week I pulled of all 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats. However, that was with some modified pull-ups.
Yesterday, doing traditional pull-ups, I only did I do all 10 without stopping on the first set. The other three sets I had to break it up, with the last set being done as 4,3,3 with small breaks between. Still, those 40 pull-ups are the most I've ever done in a day.
Considering that about a month ago, I could barely do one pull-up, I think that's pretty freakin' awesome!
Oh, and if you're wondering about that second mile being so much quicker, at my son's insistence, I ran that outside. I figured out a route around the perimeter of our property was roughly 0.15 miles.
The weird thing to me was that the pace I was running felt slower than when doing the same thing on a treadmill.
Oh, and coupled with my yard work earlier in the day, I finally earned the Fitbit "Classics" badge for 25,000+ steps in a day! I finished with 26,187!
My next daily step goal is 30,000. I have no idea how I'll get that or the badge for 50 flights of stairs in a day. Suggestions welcome.
Anyway, thanks again for joining me on this journey!
